What Can Cause a Delay In Your MD Tax Refund
If it’s taking longer than expected for you to get your Maryland state tax refund, it may be due to a delay with your return. So what causes a delay?
Well, there are several different reasons that could cause a delay in your Indiana state tax refunds. It may include some of the following, but are not limited to:
- Requesting a check instead of direct deposit. Or not having the right direct deposit info.
- Filing a paper return instead of doing it electronically
- Errors in the math on your return requires the DOR to investigate them further.
- The Maryland Department of Revenue has questions about your return. In this case, they may require your to verify some of the information on your return. You may even have to give them some additional information so they have what they need to process your return and refund.
- Tax returns with missing information such as social security numbers, missing W2 or 1099 tax forms, etc. Your form is incomplete in this case, and until the DOR has all the info it needs, they will not process your refund.
To get your refund as fast as possible, make sure your tax return is complete, and the information on it is correct. You’ll also generally get things faster if you submit your return online and choose to have the state send you your refund through direct deposit to your bank. These will all help make the process faster and more convenient for you.
